I cannot believe we haven’t had a Big Mama Chronicles since August! I definitely owe y’all an update on all things Big Mama.

I believe the last time we talked, I had just started working with my personal trainer. Well, here we are, three months later, and I have consistently been working out three days a week since August!
And y’all… I am looking noticeably smaller!
I haven’t had a whole lot of scale victories, and that’s probably because my eating habits still aren’t super-duper healthy. But when I look in the mirror, I can see the changes happening to my body, and I’m really enjoying what I’m seeing.
Of course, every day is different. Some days, I look in the mirror and think, “Oh my God, look at this stomach! It’s getting up out of here!” And other days, I look in the mirror and think, “Oh my God, nothing has changed. This is going to take FOREVER.”
But I know things are moving in the right direction because other people have noticed the changes, too. Even my trainer keeps telling me that my stomach is going down and my shape is coming in.
So, PERIOD. 😌💅🏾

I am genuinely proud of myself because this is the most consistent I have EVER been with working out. And that’s a big part of why I decided to go ahead and invest in a personal trainer. I knew having someone to hold me accountable every week would be a game changer for me.
And let me tell y’all, she has been such a great support! She listens to me complain and keeps it moving. Because trust me, I do be in them people’s gym doing my fair share of complaining, LOL.
I know I need to tighten up my eating habits, but one thing at a time. Right now, I’m just glad I made the decision to prioritize my health and move my body more. Honestly, even getting myself to the gym consistently is a victory worth celebrating.
This has been something I’ve done for ME and me only. The gym has become one of the few places where I consistently put myself first, and that feels good.
Because not only am I working toward getting healthier, but I’m also getting stronger, both mentally and physically.
There is ALWAYS something that needs to be done. Between motherhood, school, and everything else life throws at me, there are plenty of days when I really don’t feel like getting in the car and going to the gym.
But I do it anyway.
Because I’m learning how important it is to show up for yourself, even when you don’t feel like it.
I’m getting emotional as I write this because when I really stop and think about how far I’ve come in taking care of myself and being intentional about showing up for ME, I can’t help but feel proud.
I’m proud of the woman I’m becoming. I’m proud that I’m finally making myself a priority. And I’m proud that I’m following through on something I said I wanted to do for myself.
There have been so many times when I let my anxiety win and hold me back. So many times when fear kept me from pushing myself or trying something new. So many times when I talked myself out of doing something because I was afraid of what might happen.
But not this time.
This time, I’m showing up for myself. I’m pushing past the discomfort. I’m proving to myself that I can do hard things.
So, here I am, kicking ass, showing up, and lifting these heavy-ass weights.
And I’m proud as hell of myself.
We’re still a work in progress over here, Big Mamas, but we’re making PROGRESS. And that’s what matters!
Until next time!
xoxo,
Alexis
